Broadwindsor is a small, historic village and civil parish in rural west Dorset, set among rolling farmland, hedgerows and lanes typical of the county. It sits within easy driving distance of market towns such as Beaminster and Bridport, and is not far from the county’s famous coastline and the Jurassic Coast area of outstanding natural beauty.
The village retains a traditional feel with stone cottages, a parish church, a village hall and a pub at its heart, and its local economy is a mix of agriculture, small businesses and tourism (holiday lets and walkers visiting the Dorset countryside). There is an active community life with parish events and societies, and the settlement’s long history is visible in listed buildings and the pattern of lanes and field boundaries that reflect centuries of rural life.
