West Moors is a village and civil parish in Dorset, England, set on the edge of lowland heath between Bournemouth and the New Forest. Its surroundings of pine woodlands and open heath, including Avon Heath Country Park, give it a distinctly semi‑rural feel while keeping it within easy reach of larger towns.
The settlement expanded in the 19th century with the arrival of the railway, and that transport heritage still shapes its layout and local character. Today it mixes residential streets, local shops and light industry, functioning in part as a commuter community for places such as Bournemouth and Southampton, and supports an active local life through sports clubs, community groups and conservation efforts for the surrounding heathland.
