Gornal is an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in the West Midlands, taking in the neighbouring communities of Upper Gornal, Lower Gornal and Gornal Wood. It sits on the western fringe of the Black Country, between Dudley town centre and Stourbridge, and features a mix of traditional terraces, semi‑detached housing and small local shopping parades.
Historically the area grew up around coal mining and small‑scale industry, and that industrial heritage is still detectable in street layouts and older buildings. Today the ward is largely residential with community centres, pubs and local shops, reasonable bus links and nearby green spaces, and it has a socially mixed population with active neighbourhood groups involved in local projects and improvements.
