Netherton & Holly Hall sits on the western side of the metropolitan borough of Dudley in the West Midlands, within the historic industrial landscape of the Black Country. The ward mixes tiered, post‑war housing estates with older terraces and pockets of green space; remnants of its coal, iron and glass past are still visible in former works, canal corridors and reclaimed industrial land that now provide walking routes and local character.
Community life is shaped by a strong local identity, modest high streets, schools and community centres, with employment shifting from heavy industry to light manufacturing, services and commuting into nearby centres such as Birmingham. Recent regeneration and grassroots projects have aimed to improve housing, public spaces and facilities while preserving the area’s Black Country heritage.
