Rowley Regis is a town in Sandwell, in the West Midlands of England. It occupies high ground on the Rowley Hills in the heart of the Black Country, and historically grew up around quarrying and 19th‑century coal and iron industries; the local dolerite, known as "Rowley Rag", was widely used as roadstone and building material.
Today Rowley Regis is largely residential with pockets of light industry and small industrial estates, and benefits from road and rail links into nearby Birmingham and Dudley. Local parks and reclaimed quarry sites give a green counterpoint to its industrial past, while community and regeneration projects aim to preserve heritage even as the area adapts to modern economic and social challenges.
