Sedgley is an electoral ward on the north‑western fringe of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in the West Midlands, historically part of Staffordshire. Perched on higher ground at the edge of the Black Country, it offers pleasant views towards the surrounding countryside and is close to green spaces such as Baggeridge Country Park, giving a semi‑rural feel despite sitting within the West Midlands urban area.
The area has a visible industrial past - coal mining and ironworking shaped its growth - and that heritage survives in older housing, local place names and community identity. Today it is largely residential with a compact high street, parish life centred around churches such as St Chad's, and good commuter links into nearby Wolverhampton and Birmingham, while local groups and conservation efforts keep a strong neighbourhood character.
