Bishop Wilton is a small village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, tucked into the rolling chalk countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds, roughly ten miles east of York and a few miles from Pocklington. The parish sits close to Garrowby Hill (often called Bishop Wilton Wold), the Wolds' highest point, a classic viewpoint celebrated in landscape painting and popular with drivers and cyclists for its sweeping vistas.
Historically the village has medieval roots and retains a number of older buildings around a traditional village centre; today it remains largely agricultural in character with a small, close-knit community, a village pub and local events that reflect rural life rather than heavy industry, making it a quiet base for exploring the surrounding Wolds and nearby historic towns.
