Kirby Underdale is a small rural parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, set among the rolling chalk hills of the Yorkshire Wolds. The landscape of arable fields, hedgerows and small woodlands is typical Wolds countryside and makes the area popular with walkers exploring quiet lanes and public footpaths.
Historically an agricultural settlement with medieval roots, the community is made up of scattered farms and a small cluster of houses with a historic church and a number of listed buildings. The local economy remains largely farming-based, with some residents commuting to nearby market towns such as Pocklington and Malton; community life tends to be quiet and closely linked with neighbouring villages.
