Holmpton is a small coastal village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, sitting on the low-lying Holderness coast a short drive from Withernsea. The surrounding landscape is flat arable farmland punctuated by sea-defence works, and the dynamics of coastal erosion and deposition are a constant part of local life; the chalk cliffs of Flamborough Head and the wild spit of Spurn are within easy reach for day visitors.
The parish is perhaps best known for the subterranean Cold War site and visitor centre RAF Holmpton, which attracts military-history enthusiasts, while the local economy remains largely agricultural with a small amount of tourism from birdwatchers and walkers. With medieval roots and a very small, close-knit community, it feels quietly remote yet connected to the broader natural and historic attractions of the Yorkshire coast.
