Paull is a small village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, sitting on the north bank of the Humber Estuary a short distance from Hull and the spurned mudflats towards Spurn Point. The landscape is low-lying saltmarsh and reclaimed farmland protected by a long seawall and tidal defences, giving broad estuary views and making the shoreline important for birdlife and coastal walking.
Historically a riverside community shaped by shipping, flood management and military defence, Paull is notable for Fort Paull, a 19th‑century artillery fort later used as a military museum, and for its links with nearby industry around Saltend and the wider Humber ports. Today it remains a small, close‑knit settlement where agriculture, estuary recreation and maritime history define the local character.
