Newick is a village and civil parish in the district of Lewes, East Sussex, England, set among rolling farmland on the northern fringes of the South Downs. Roughly between Uckfield and Lewes, it retains a compact core of flint cottages, a village green and ponds, with hedgerows and small woods giving a distinctly rural character.
With medieval roots visible in the church and older buildings, Newick grew slowly through the 19th and 20th centuries and now combines agriculture and local trades with many residents commuting to Brighton or London. Community life is lively for a village of its size, centred on a village hall, primary school, pubs and sports clubs, while annual fetes, markets and amateur events help maintain a strong local identity.
