Scaynes Hill is a small village in the Mid Sussex district of West Sussex, England. It lies a few miles east of Haywards Heath and close to Lindfield, set in rolling Sussex countryside on the edge of the High Weald and within easy reach of the South Downs.
The settlement grew up around 19th‑century quarrying and the old quarry now serves as a valued local nature reserve and geological interest. Today Scaynes Hill is largely residential with some farming and small businesses, many people commuting via nearby rail links to Haywards Heath, Brighton or London, and it retains a quiet, close‑knit village character with occasional community events rather than heavy tourism.
