Horris Hill is a small, quietly rural hamlet in the borough of Basingstoke and Deane in Hampshire, England. It occupies gentle farmland and lanes on the outskirts of the rolling countryside near the North Wessex Downs, which gives the area a pastoral character of fields, hedgerows and scattered farmsteads rather than anything urban or industrial.
The local economy is largely agricultural with many residents commuting to larger centres such as Basingstoke or Reading for work. The name Horris Hill is also associated with a long-established private preparatory school in the vicinity, and the hamlet’s interest is more social and historical - old cottages, country houses and local paths - than built-up tourist attractions.
