Hythe is a coastal ward and town in the district of Folkestone and Hythe, Kent, England, sitting on the edge of Romney Marsh alongside the Royal Military Canal. Historically one of the ancient Cinque Ports, it retains a long seafront, a medieval parish church and a compact street pattern of Georgian and Victorian buildings; the long Hythe Pier with its preserved narrow‑gauge electric railway is a distinctive local landmark.
The local economy mixes tourism, small‑scale maritime activity and independent shops, while many residents commute to nearby towns. Military links remain important through nearby Shorncliffe Camp, and the ward has an active community life with societies, seasonal events and waterside recreation that connect it to neighbouring Sandgate and the wider coast.
