New Romney is a small market town and civil parish in the district of Folkestone and Hythe, in Kent, England, sitting on the edge of the low-lying Romney Marsh. Once one of the original members of the Cinque Ports and a busy medieval harbour, it is now set inland after centuries of silting and the shifting course of the River Rother, leaving a handsome historic core of timber-framed buildings and the medieval church of St Nicholas.
Today the local economy blends agriculture with tourism, helped by the quirky heritage of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway and nearby nature reserves and shingle landscapes at Dungeness. The town retains a strong community feel with markets, local shops and heritage attractions that reflect its long maritime and marshland history.
