Coxheath is a village and civil parish of heathland to the south-east of Maidstone in Kent, England, sitting within the wider commuter belt for London. Geographically it’s notable for the wide open common that gives the village its character - historically that heath was the site of a large 18th–19th century military encampment used for training and reviews during the wars with France, a past that still shapes local place names and landscape features.
Today Coxheath mixes rural and suburban life: a modest local economy of shops, schools and community organisations serves residents while many commute to nearby Maidstone or further afield. There’s an active social scene centred on the village hall, sports clubs and events on the common, and recent housing growth has expanded the population while the heath remains an important recreational and ecological asset.
