Kirkburton is a largely rural civil parish in the metropolitan borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England, centred on the village of Kirkburton about six miles south‑east of Huddersfield. It occupies rolling foothills of the Pennines, with fields, stone-built villages and belts of woodland; a landscape marked by lanes, reservoirs and mill ponds that reflect its historic relationship with water and local industry.
The area developed around the woollen and textile trades, and you can still see former mills, weavers’ cottages and a traditional village high street. Today the economy is a mix of farming, small manufacturers and commuters travelling to nearby towns, while community life revolves around parish clubs, pubs, local events and a number of conservation areas and listed buildings that preserve the parish’s historic character.
