Scholes is a small village in the metropolitan borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, lying close to Cleckheaton and within comfortable reach of Huddersfield, Bradford and Leeds. It sits on the edge of the Pennine foothills, so residents benefit from easy access to rolling moorland and popular local walking routes.
Historically the settlement was connected to the West Yorkshire textile industry and you can still see traditional stone terraces and former mill buildings, but today Scholes is largely residential with local shops, a village school, pubs and active community groups; many people commute to nearby towns while the village keeps a quiet, community-oriented feel.
