The ward sits along the valley of the River Wreake in Charnwood, Leicestershire, on the outer edge of Leicester. It is a mix of small villages, ribbon development and greenbelt farmland, with a ribbon of recreational green space and trails - including the popular Wreake Valley Country Park - that draws walkers, cyclists and families for outdoor activities.
Historically the river corridor shaped local settlement and light industry, and you can still find traces of former mill sites and disused railway lines reused as greenways. The local economy is largely a blend of agriculture, village services and commuting into nearby urban centres, while active parish councils and community groups maintain a strong village identity and programme of events.
