Launde is a tiny civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England, set in quiet rolling countryside close to the county boundary with Rutland. The population is very small and dwellings are clustered around the historic estate of Launde Abbey, with surrounding fields and ancient Launde Woods giving the area a strongly rural character.
Historically the site of a medieval Augustinian priory dissolved in the Reformation, the surviving Tudor house and chapel at Launde Abbey now serve as a retreat and conference centre, which brings occasional visitors and events to the locality. Economic life remains largely agricultural, supplemented by the abbey’s activities and low‑key tourism; the quiet lanes, woodland and history make it popular with walkers and those interested in local heritage and wildlife.
