Markfield is a large village and civil parish in the borough of Hinckley and Bosworth, in Leicestershire, England, set on the western edge of Charnwood Forest. The surrounding landscape is rockier than much of the county, with views towards Bardon Hill, active and historic quarries and a network of countryside walks that draw local walkers and mountain bikers.
Historically the village grew through agriculture, quarrying and framework knitting, and today combines small local businesses and commuter links to Leicester with a strong community feel; the presence of the Markfield Institute of Higher Education adds a distinctive cultural and educational dimension. Village life is marked by community groups, schools and sports clubs, and the visible industrial heritage gives Markfield a blend of rural charm and working history.
