Benwell and Scotswood lie on the western edge of Newcastle upon Tyne, hugging the north bank of the River Tyne only a few miles from the city centre. The ward mixes riverside paths and pocket parks with long runs of Victorian and post‑war housing, and transport links westwards along the old industrial corridor give easy access to the city and neighbouring communities.
