The village and civil parish of Alkborough sits on a low triangular promontory where the rivers Trent and Ouse come together and flow into the Humber, in North Lincolnshire, England. Its raised banks give expansive views over the estuary and the adjacent saltmarshes known as Alkborough Flats, an attractive spot for walkers and birdwatchers because of the variety of waders and wetland habitat.
Locally life remains largely agricultural, centred on small farms and a compact village with traditional cottages and a parish church, but there are also conservation and low‑key tourism interests. A particularly curious cultural feature is the turf labyrinth called Julian's Bower, thought to be medieval in origin, which alongside the riverscape underlines the parish's long history of living with and adapting to its tidal environment.
