Flax Bourton is a small village and civil parish in North Somerset, a few miles south‑west of Bristol and close to the larger settlements of Backwell and Nailsea. Set among farmland and pockets of woodland, it sits within easy reach of the Mendip Hills and local road and rail links, so it combines a quiet rural feel with good access to the city and coast.
Historically an agricultural community - the name reflecting past flax cultivation - the village has a mix of older buildings and more recent housing, a parish church with medieval origins and a sense of local community life. It once had a railway station on the main line (closed in the 20th century) and today is largely a commuter village with small businesses and countryside pursuits nearby, while remaining shaped by its historic landscape and proximity to Bristol’s economic activity.
