Long Ashton is a village and civil parish in North Somerset on the southern edge of Bristol, tucked beneath the slopes of the Avon Gorge and close to the parkland of Ashton Court. It has medieval roots, a compact village centre with the historic St Mary's Church, and the site of the former Long Ashton Research Station, once a nationally important centre for agricultural and cider research.
Today Long Ashton functions largely as a commuter village with local shops, pubs, a primary school and lively community groups; its surrounding orchards and countryside reflect a long horticultural tradition and make it popular with walkers and families while keeping strong links to life and work in Bristol.
