Delph is a small village in the civil parish of Saddleworth, in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. It sits in the valley of the River Tame on the eastern fringes of the Pennines, with easy access to moorland and nearby reservoirs such as Dovestone. Historically it lay in the West Riding of Yorkshire, and its stone terraces and former mill buildings still hint at a textile past.
Delph has a close-knit village feel, with local pubs, independent shops and a strong community life; it takes part in the famous Whit Friday brass‑band contests that sweep through Saddleworth. The village was served until the mid‑20th century by a branch line nicknamed the 'Delph Donkey', and today is largely residential and popular with walkers and commuters who travel into Manchester.
