Goring is a compact riverside village in South Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England, sitting on the bank of the River Thames opposite Streatley. It occupies the dramatic Goring Gap, where the Thames cuts through the Chiltern Hills, and is much used by walkers, rowers and day-trippers for its scenic river walks and boating access.
Today Goring combines a busy high street of independent shops, pubs and cafes with a commuter catchment served by regular trains towards Reading and London; tourism and leisure help support the local economy. The village centre retains several historic and listed buildings and a parish church, and an active community calendar of markets and events gives it a lively yet distinctly rural feel.
