Clipsham is a small village and civil parish in the county of Rutland in England, sitting close to the Lincolnshire border and within easy reach of Stamford and Oakham. The village has a compact, rural feel and many of its buildings are faced in the local cream-coloured limestone, giving the place a distinctive, cohesive appearance.
Clipsham is best known for its quarried limestone - “Clipsham stone” has been used for restoration work and in stately buildings around the country - and the nearby quarries and limestone grassland are of interest for both geology and wildlife. The parish remains largely agricultural with a small, close-knit community centred around the village church and occasional local events, while some residents commute to nearby towns for work.
