Meriden is a small village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, in the West Midlands of England, traditionally part of Warwickshire. It sits on a stretch of countryside between Birmingham and Coventry and is famous for its village green and the old stone that marks the village as a traditional “centre of England”, giving it a slightly symbolic geographic identity despite the surrounding modern road network.
The parish retains a rural feel with a medieval parish church, a handful of pubs and community events, and a mix of agricultural land and commuter housing; many residents travel into nearby towns for work while the village remains popular with walkers and riders. Historic buildings, local clubs and a strong village community contribute to a social life that balances heritage with being within easy reach of the West Midlands’ economic centres.
