Chipstable is a small rural parish in Somerset, England, made up of a scattering of hamlets and farmsteads set into rolling hedged countryside a short drive from Taunton. The area is typical of the west-country landscape, with narrow lanes, mixed pasture and arable fields and pockets of small woodland that make it popular for quiet walking and wildlife watching.
Historically agricultural, the parish retains a number of traditional stone cottages and a modest parish church, with roots stretching back into the medieval period; listed buildings and field patterns hint at a long continuity of rural life. Today the local economy is still dominated by farming, supplemented by people who commute to nearby towns, and a small community that values conservation of its historic and natural character.
