Evercreech is a village and civil parish in Somerset, lying close to the gentle limestone ridges of the Mendip Hills and within easy reach of Shepton Mallet. It retains the feel of a traditional West Country village, with local stone buildings, a medieval parish church, a village hall, pubs and small shops, set amid farmland and lanes popular with walkers.
Its history is tied to agriculture and transport: the nearby former Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway once had an important junction and its closure in the 1960s is still remembered locally. Today the economy mixes farming and rural enterprises with commuting to larger towns, while community life is kept lively by local clubs, events and services that sustain a strong village identity.
