Ilminster is a small market town and civil parish in Somerset, sitting on the River Isle roughly halfway between Taunton and Yeovil and close to the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its valley location and road links have long made it a local hub for the surrounding agricultural countryside.
Ilminster has a compact medieval core centred on a prominent parish church whose spire is a local landmark; historically the town grew on the back of cloth and related trades. Today it combines independent shops, light industry and farming, with a lively community arts scene and regular markets and events that reflect its long civic and social traditions.
