St. Cuthbert Out is a largely rural civil parish that encircles the cathedral city of Wells in Somerset, England. It covers a patchwork of farmland, small villages and hamlets on the edge of the Mendip Hills and the Somerset Levels, so you get a mix of rolling limestone countryside and low-lying wetlands.
The parish’s unusual name reflects that it is the territory outside the ancient cathedral parish of Wells. Historically dominated by farming and local quarrying, it still has stone cottages and medieval churches; today the local economy blends agriculture, small-scale tourism and commuting, while social life revolves around village halls, parish events and close-knit community ties.
