Stogursey is a small village and civil parish in Somerset, in the west of England, lying a short distance inland from the Bristol Channel and the salt marshes of Bridgwater Bay. It sits beside the estuary of the River Parrett, surrounded by farming land with open views towards the Quantock Hills, so the setting mixes coastal and rural landscapes.
Stogursey has medieval roots and was historically known as Stoke Courcy; the village retains the remains of a priory and a fortified manor alongside an ancient parish church, which give a strong sense of history. The local economy remains largely agricultural with some commuters to Bridgwater and beyond, while a lively village community, walking routes and nearby estuarine birdlife attract visitors and sustain local events.
