Combwich is a small village on the tidal River Parrett estuary in Somerset, England, sitting near the mouth of a creek on the north side of the Steart Peninsula. The surrounding salt marshes and mudflats make it a quiet, low-lying spot popular with birdwatchers and walkers, and its setting gives the village a distinctly coastal, rural character despite being close to larger centres such as Bridgwater.
Historically Combwich served as a modest port handling local coastal trade, coal and building materials, and its small quay has featured in more recent plans and works associated with the nearby Hinkley Point power complex. Today the settlement remains a tight-knit community with an economy rooted in agriculture, local services and estuary-related recreation and wildlife tourism, while ongoing estuary and flood-management issues shape life there.
