Cannock Wood sits on the western edge of Cannock Chase in Staffordshire, England, and feels more like a tucked‑away village within a patchwork of heathland, mixed woodland and bridleways. The surrounding landscape is a magnet for walkers, mountain bikers and birdwatchers, with open vistas from the higher ground and a network of public footpaths that make the area popular for day visitors as well as locals.
History is visible in the landscape: nearby Castle Ring, an Iron Age hillfort, is one of the most prominent archaeological features on the Chase, and remnants of the area's military training and former mining era can still be seen. The community itself is small and largely residential, with a village atmosphere supported by local events and services while many residents commute to larger towns for work, making tourism and outdoor recreation important to the local economy.
