Kidsgrove is a town and civil parish in the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England, sitting on the northern edge of the pottery district and close to Stoke-on-Trent. The parish includes outlying settlements such as Mow Cop and is notable for the dramatic cut of the Harecastle Tunnel where the Trent and Mersey Canal threads through the landscape.
Historically the area grew up around coal mining, canals and railways that served the nearby pottery and heavy industries, and pieces of that industrial past survive in canal towpaths, old workings and the distinctive folly on Mow Cop, famous for early 19th-century Methodist gatherings. Nowadays Kidsgrove is largely residential with good commuter links, local shops and green spaces popular for walking and canal-side recreation.
