The area covers the villages of Featherstone, Shareshill and Saredon in South Staffordshire, in the county of Staffordshire, sitting on the rural–urban fringe to the west of Wolverhampton. It mixes the larger, more suburban character of Featherstone with the quieter, agricultural feel of Shareshill and Saredon, and is crisscrossed by countryside lanes, hedgerows and public footpaths that link village greens, farms and parish churches.
Historically the communities have roots in farming and the wider Black Country industrial hinterland, and parts of Featherstone grew as a commuter base for nearby centres such as Wolverhampton, Birmingham and Telford thanks to good road links. Today the area combines local shops, pubs, village halls and active community groups with a handful of small businesses and light industry, plus listed buildings and other heritage reminders of its rural and mining past, giving a strong village identity alongside easy access to urban amenities.
