Cheadle is a small market town in the district of Staffordshire Moorlands, in Staffordshire, England. It sits on the western edge of the Peak District foothills, a short drive from Stoke-on-Trent and roughly midway between Leek and Uttoxeter; the River Tean and a landscape of rolling farmland and limestone dales give the area a distinctly rural character.
Historically a market centre with roots back into the medieval period, Cheadle retains a compact town centre of sandstone buildings, traditional pubs and a market atmosphere. The local economy is a mix of agriculture, light manufacturing and commuting, while proximity to attractions such as the Peak District and Alton Towers helps sustain a modest tourism trade; community life is focused on local clubs, events and the town’s historic streetscape.
