Artington is a small civil parish on the outskirts of Guildford in Surrey, set largely on the rolling downland and woodland of the North Downs. It retains a distinctly rural character despite its proximity to the town, and forms part of the recreational landscape of the Surrey Hills, popular with walkers and riders.
Historically an agricultural area with a scattering of farmsteads and old houses, Artington now has a small, dispersed community: many residents commute via the nearby A3 to Guildford or London, while local life centres on countryside activities, conservation and occasional community events rather than a conventional village high street.
