Shalford is a riverside ward on the eastern edge of Guildford in Surrey, England, known for its mix of suburban housing, green space and remnants of a working river economy. The River Wey threads through the area and the historic mill and bridges by the water give the place a distinctly village feel despite its proximity to the town centre; much of the built environment reflects Victorian and earlier origins with pockets of more modern housing and small industrial units.
Locally there is a strong community identity supported by village halls, pubs and small shops, and many residents commute into central Guildford or London while enjoying access to riverside walks and conservation areas. Economically the ward combines residential streets with light commercial activity, and culturally it retains events and groups that centre on the riverside setting and local heritage.
