The ward around Mickleham, Westcott and Okewood lies in the northern part of Mole Valley in Surrey, much of it within the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The landscape is largely rural - rolling chalk downland, ancient woodland and the valley of the River Mole give way to well used footpaths and popular viewpoints such as Box Hill, so it attracts walkers, cyclists and nature enthusiasts.
The villages retain a strong historic character with old churches, cottages and village greens, and a local economy made up of farming, small artisanal businesses, equestrian activity and tourism; many residents commute to nearby Dorking or London. Community life is active around village halls, pubs and seasonal events, while conservation of chalk grassland and woodland habitats is a notable local priority.
