Lightwater is a village in the borough of Surrey Heath, in Surrey, England, set on remnant heathland close to Bagshot and Camberley and roughly 30 miles south‑west of London. It grew largely in the 20th century as a commuter settlement, but retains extensive pine and heather common, most notably around Lightwater Country Park, which makes it popular for walking, cycling and family outings.
Modern Lightwater is primarily residential with local shops, schools and sports clubs, and many residents commute to employment centres in London, Reading or nearby towns such as Bracknell. The area also feels the influence of nearby military and training establishments, notably the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, giving a mixed suburban character with a strong local community and access to open countryside.
