Cranleigh East sits on the eastern side of the large village of Cranleigh in the borough of Waverley, county of Surrey, in England. The area is largely residential with a mix of Victorian and inter‑war housing, small local shops and green spaces, set against gently undulating countryside close to the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its roots are agricultural and there are still reminders of the village’s past in historic buildings and in former transport routes now used as recreational corridors.
Socially the neighbourhood has a strong community feel, with active clubs, village events and nearby schools such as Cranleigh School. Economically many residents commute to Guildford or London, while local employment is centred on retail, services and small businesses; the locality is also popular with walkers, cyclists and the equestrian community.
