Elstead is a village in the borough of Waverley, in Surrey, England. Nestled on the edge of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to Thursley Common, it sits beside a mill pond and a river crossing on the River Wey, with plenty of heathland and woodlands that make it popular with walkers and horse riders.
Elstead has historic roots stretching back to medieval times and a small conservation area with traditional pubs, a village shop and community hall; village life is active with sports clubs and local events. Economically it combines small-scale agriculture, leisure and local businesses, while many residents commute to nearby towns such as Farnham and Godalming.
