Thursley is a small rural civil parish in the borough of Waverley in Surrey, England, notable for its sweeping heathland and peat bogs. Much of its character comes from Thursley Common National Nature Reserve, one of the largest areas of lowland heath in the county and an important habitat for species such as nightjar, sand lizard and various bog plants; the open heaths have occasionally been shaped by summer wildfires and active conservation work.
The village itself clusters around the ancient St Michael's Church and a handful of farms and cottages, retaining a quiet, conservation-minded community rather than a commercial centre. Economically it remains largely agricultural and residential, with many residents commuting to nearby towns such as Guildford, while local life is strongly influenced by outdoor recreation, nature conservation and the surrounding Surrey Hills landscape.
