Bramber is a small village and civil parish in the district of Horsham, in West Sussex, England. It lies in the Adur valley at the foot of the South Downs, beside the River Adur and within easy reach of Steyning and the coast at Shoreham. The skyline is dominated by the earthworks and stone ruins of Bramber Castle, a Norman motte‑and‑bailey that still overlooks the river and surrounding countryside.
Once a medieval market town and river port under the de Braose family, the harbour later silted up and the settlement declined, leaving a compact village of narrow lanes, historic buildings and a medieval church. Today Bramber attracts walkers on the Downs and visitors interested in history and antiques, while most everyday services and employment are linked to nearby towns in the Horsham area.
