Haywards Heath is a town and civil parish in Mid Sussex, West Sussex, lying on the edge of the Weald and within easy reach of the South Downs. It sits roughly midway between Brighton and London; the arrival of the railway in the 19th century transformed it from a village into the commuter town it is today.
Today Haywards Heath combines a busy town centre of independent shops and cafés with residential areas that range from Victorian villas to newer developments such as Bolnore Village. Its economy is largely driven by retail and local services for residents and commuters, while nearby greenspace and footpaths make it popular with walkers and families, supported by active community groups and regular local events.
