The civil parish of Lindal and Marton sits on the Furness peninsula within the unitary authority of Westmorland and Furness in England, a few miles from Barrow-in-Furness. It contains the villages of Lindal-in-Furness and Marton, set among moorland, farmland and limestone outcrops with views across to the Lake District and Morecambe Bay.
Historically the area was shaped by 19th‑century iron‑ore working and the arrival of railways that fed the Furness iron industry, leaving a legacy of workers’ cottages, quarries and industrial archaeology. Today it’s a quiet, largely residential and agricultural community with village halls and pubs, many residents commuting to nearby towns and visitors attracted by the moorland walks and local heritage.
