Lindal in Furness is a small village on the Furness peninsula in the unitary authority of Westmorland and Furness, tucked between Barrow-in-Furness and Ulverston on the edge of the Lakeland fringe. Its setting gives pleasant views towards the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay, and the local geology - limestone and iron‑ore deposits - shaped the settlement and landscape for generations.
Historically Lindal grew as a 19th‑century mining and quarrying community, and you can still sense that industrial past in terraced houses and old workings around the village. Today it feels like a close‑knit rural community and many residents commute to nearby towns and employers, while local life centres on village pubs, community events and outdoor pursuits in the surrounding fells and coastal lowlands.
